Madison-River-Fishing-Report

October 2022
UPDATED 10/28/2022

And there’s snow on the mountain, baetis in the air, trout in them rivers and it’s waiting for you there! Happy Friday Madison Valley, I hope it’s been a great one! Turn on your favorite Marshall Tucker Band album and take in this beautiful fall weather, and yes, it sure is fall folks. The Ennis Girl’s Volleyball team is currently battling it out with Twin Bridges while the Ennis Boy’s Football team is prepping for battle tomorrow with Chinook High School. Go Stangs! Although there may be a bit more snow on the ground than what most of us are mentally prepared for, it’s still a great time to be fishing here in Ennis, Montana!

Ole Mr W. looks to be taking the day off tomorrow with wind speeds being significantly lower than what we've seen the last few days. This weekend is shaping up to be nothing short of spectacular with mild fall weather inbound and partly cloudy skies. Flows near Cameron are currently running at 1010 CFS as of 1:15 PM this afternoon. If you haven’t had the chance to check out the new USGS waterdata website, I implore you to give it a gander here! Water temperatures have fluctuated between 49.28 F and 36.68 F over the course of the last week. As the blaze orange mafia wields to the mountains to search for the ever elusive wapiti, the river should be noticeably less trafficked. Whether it’s the cold or the camo providing this halt, it’s a great time to enjoy some peace and solitude on the water!
